Time to put this one to bed

I was reading the landscaping guidelines of a large metropolitan council yesterday and came across the old chestnut: "local indigenous trees preferred".

THIS IS FLAWED LOGIC.

You can read why here.

Typical outcome for local indigenous trees planted into urban landscapes

So why are councils still saying it?

Because they think it makes them look "green".

In reality, they're being the exact opposite.

Why?

Because they're setting their urban forest up to fail.

And that 'aint green in my book.
