Less is more

A local council has had its riverside tree planting vandalised again.

Residents do this to enhance their views but often they are diminishing them.

How so?

Think of a partially-clad person compared to a completely naked person. The former is always more alluring, right?

The same principle applies here. It's what they teach you in Garden Design 101: if you can see the whole thing at once you quickly lose interest. But if there are bits that are partly obscured, your interest is held.

Water views through trees are always more enticing than "naked" views. Go to Cottesloe Beach and look at the ocean through the pine trees to see what I mean.

Besides, if you follow the vandals' logic, I should be able to go down to Rossmoyne, clear-fell the Paperbarks lining the river and have the residents thank me for it.

No, I didn't think so either.

PS…..thankyou to the new subscribers!

  1. It would be interesting to know the location of this vandalism!

    1. It's important the innocent aren't vilified hence no location divulged. But it's happening pretty much everywhere there are water views in Perth.
