Too often in the past we've seen large trees "retained" by developers only to see them die later.
That won't be the case though at the old Perry Lakes Stadium site in Floreat because the designers have gone to considerable lengths to not just retain the trees but actually give them a good chance of living on.
Here's an example of what I mean.
This old Flooded Gum (Eucalyptus rudis) loves wet feet so they've made a mini-drainage sump around it to make sure it stays wet!
There are a lot of large Eucalypts in the site and they've all been respectfully treated like this. It's great to see. It gives them the best chance of becoming veterans one day - something sorely lacking in Perth.
