One: Trees in medians develop full canopies, unlike trees in sidewalks.
Two: Melbourne is blessed to have medians in many of it's CBD streets.
Three: Melbourne takes full advantage of it's advantage and puts BIG trees in it's medians.
Well, OK, there's a fourth lesson. And that is that Perth, which tends to plant small, frangible trees in it's medians so that no one gets sued if a driver runs into them, fails to appreciate that, from a wider societal perspective, the cure is worse than the condition. In other words, it's better to be sued now and then than live with hot, ugly streets 24/7.
