All good things must end

This chair and sign was on the road so I went to investigate.

The resident had put it out to warn that this old Melaleuca had split through the main trunk.

It's probably unsalvageable and a reminder that all living things have a finite lifespan.

But it should also remind us that we need to be constantly replanting simply to replace natural attrition.

That's hundreds of trees a year in a typical Council.

And that's only to prevent us going backwards.

Of course we want to be doing much more than that these days.
