A reader just sent me some pics (including this one) of a stand of Eucalyptus grandis on his recently-acquired acreage.
I'd be excited too. They're magnificent.
They're not suitable as street trees though due to the extreme height they can attain… ie even a small dead bit falling from the top of one of these will give you quite a headache ;)
And getting up there with a cherry picker to regularly deadwood them gets rather expensive!
PS: If you're into your tree ID, that shaggy bark "skirt" is the give-away that it's a grandis….that and the gun-barrel straight, smooth white trunk.
