Onya London

Hutchinson Ave, Mosman Park

London kicked a big goal with the release of its urban forest report last December.

You can read it here and I urge you to do so because it pretty much sums up the game for all of us.

One of the key things I learned from this report was that not only do we want big trees, we want big, leafy trees, because total leaf area is a key factor in the ability of trees to effectively deliver their "ecosystem services" * to our cities.

The other big takeaway for me was that the era of "green infrastructure" is upon us. The time for personal favourites is finished.

* "Ecosystem services" is the new term for all the good things that trees do for us
