I heard two good suggestions about how to get more money from your Council for urban forest.
The first was from Lyndal Plant from the University of Queensland: point out to the Council that the evidence is in that leafy streets put property values up. And when property values go up, rates go up because rates are calculated on property values. Neat!
The second was from Anne Jaluzot from the Tree and Design Action Group (UK): point out to the Council that the evidence is in that leafy public transport routes (cycleways, footpaths, bus routes, train lines) have a higher take-up rate than those with no trees. Cool! (literally :))
